THIRTY-TWO SPEAKERS representing local and international organisations and over 50 booths will be on show during the inaugural Outsource2Jamaica Symposium and Expo at the Montego Bay Convention Centre next week.

The two-day event, which officially kicks off next Thursday,

April 12, opens at 9 a.m. with an address by Dr Horace Chang, representing the Office of the Prime Minister. Montego Bay’s Mayor Homer Davis is also expected to speak at the opening ceremony, along with Gloria Henry, president of the Business Process Industry Association of Jamaica (BPIAJ).

At a cocktail reception hosted at the KIA store at Fairview in Montego Bay recently, Henry said the event would become the platform that educates and highlight developments within the sector and the clusters that support it.

Outsource2Jamaica, she said, is intended to bring greater visibility to Jamaica and its service offerings. “Too often, I travel internationally to conferences with the JAMPRO team and we are faced with the questions, ‘Jamaica does BPO services?’ Jamaica is into

outsourcing?’, despite the tremendous targeted marketing and promotion activities taking place.”

As a result, Henry and her team at the BPIAJ will host the first event of its kind in Jamaica. According to her, it was wiser for Jamaica to host its own national conference, in keeping with international best practices, to bring potential investors, buyers and industry specialists to the island and to bring more visibility to the services here.
