LASCO boosts support for Guardsman Games with ‘Tuff Kids’ challenge

LASCO IS boosting its support for the Guardsman Games, Jamaica’s biggest obstaclecourse race, with the introduction of a children’s challenge.

The new event, dubbed ‘Tuff Kids’, sponsored by LASCO Food Drink, will see children ages 10 to 16 participate in the third staging of the Guardsman Games, with the grand finale set to take place on July 22 at Hope Zoo, St Andrew.

The Guardsman Games is designed to promote family and healthy lifestyles and to bring communities together. It will also raise much-needed funds to empower youth, while providing assistance to the critically ill and children in need.

Catherine Goodall, marketing manager for beverages at LASCO, said the company is delighted to continue its support for the Guardsman Games by not only keeping the participants hydrated, but also through engaging the children.

“We think it’s a perfect fit because LASCO is all about giving back, and the whole purpose of the Guardsman Games is to raise money for the development of our children,” Goodall said.

Tuff Kids will include an obstacle course along with a host of other exciting activities aimed at fostering teamwork and discipline among children. To promote the challenge, LASCO Food Drink will kick off a school tour during April.

Chairman of the Guardsman Games and Director of Communication at Guardsman Group Lieutenant Commander George Overton expressed appreciation for LASCO’s support of the games.

“LASCO, through LASCO iCool, LASCO iDrade, and LASCO Food Drink, has been with us from the beginning and has been a pillar of strength and support,” Overton said.

According to Overton, this year’s staging of the Guardsman Games will be bigger and much more exciting, particularly with the Tuff Kids challenge.

“We will have a number of games, a number of activities that will keep the kids occupied, and it will certainly be a complementing part of what should be a family fun day,” he said.

“It all started as a need in 2016 to showcase the Guardsman Group and the services that we provide to our clients. It was very successful, with about 4,000 people attending,” he added.

Additionally, LASCO hydration kits, with the three products and a complimentary water bottle, will be available in supermarkets over the coming weeks for customers preparing for the Guardsman Games.
