FOUR-TIME OLYMPIC medallist, Yohan Blake, said that he has received extra motivation to win his first Commonwealth Games gold after receiving the support of sprint legend Usain Bolt, whom he has a close friendship with.

Bolt, whom is said to have travelled to the Gold Coast for today’s final, which Blake placed himself in with a semi-final time of 10.06 seconds, reached out to Blake via Instagram to give his moral support.

“He should be flying in (for the final) and I’m looking forward to it,” Blake said. “He messaged me on Instagram and said ‘I believe in you.’”

He added: “Just come here and get the job done. Usain told me ‘Yohan, you’ve got to win, you know what it means, you know you can’t go back home.’”

The Jamaican clocked the fastest time of 10.06 seconds to win the first semi-final yesterday, and installed himself as favourite to capture today’s final at Carrara Stadium.

Two other Caribbean runners, Jason Rogers of St Kitts and Nevis and Kemar Hyman of Cayman Islands also advanced to line up against Blake in the day’s showpiece event.

The 28-year-old Blake, the second fastest man in history, said ahead of the race that he planned to produce what he described as “something special”.
