WAYS TO ‘UN-WINE’

- Krysta.anderson@gleanerjm.com

THE LONG-AWAITED, highly anticipated carnival season has finally closed its curtains, receiving a wining ovation. Now that all the merriment is over, let’s see if we can tackle a new challenge and try a few ways to un-wine post-soca.

WARM BATH

Turn that soca down a notch with a nice soak in a warm bath – bubbles optional but recommended. It’s simple, easy to do, and will work wonders on comforting pent-up cramps, aches, and pain.

FEET THERAPY

Immerse your weary and worn-out feet in some soothing Epsom salts. Now would be a good time as any to try a foot detox as well to rid your body of the toxins attributed to bouts of alcohol.

MASSAGE

All that built-up tension in your waistline and beyond requires a release, so defy those strains with well-deserved massage and visit a spa today: that will be sure to put your muscles to rest.

MANI/PEDI

This beauty regime, seen as a pastime for so many women everywhere, may surprisingly function as the greatest de-stressor, relaxing both the body and the mind. Added bonus: they’ll be pretty, too. Furthermore, with all that marching and jumping in boots all day, your feet will certainly thank you for the extra attention.

FACIAL

A great deal of make-up and drenching sweat spells possible disaster for your face. Combat that breakout with a rejuvenating facial.

TEA TIME

It may sound crazy, but a good oldfashioned cup of tea might just do the trick in treating your body to settle the stomach and give your body some necessary rest time. Take your pick from ginger tea, green tea, chamomile, among others.

FOOD

Who knows if you were able to eat well on carnival day – pretty sure you all had more than your fair share from bottles of rum – so replenish your system with a healthy diet. After all, food is the ultimate fuel and ideal for resetting the body to function at its optimum.

NIGHT NIGHT

Nothing beats fête fatigue like some long overdue sleep. Duck out of the regular schedule if you need to, and recuperate with beauty sleep.

YOGA SESSION

It would have been great if you were engaging in yoga before the season to increase flexibility, breathing and energy but the practice is actually awesome for the aftermath, assisting with physical and mental rehabilitation.

COOL-DOWN FÊTE

If you’re a soca junkie and missing the Fêteland already, don’t despair. Cool-down parties are there to your rescue and will have you feeling like Hulk in no time.
