Polo charity dishes out divine delights

- Krysta Anderson/Gleaner Writer

IT WAS all fun and games for socialites who attended the first annual Spry Polo Charity event held at Caymanas Polo Club last Sunday afternoon. The all-day event included a professional viewing of the sport, as well as the highlighted matchup: fitness aficionados challenging themselves for the first time at competitive polo.

The sun was ablaze and so, too, were guests who came out in trendy tropical wear in support of the worthy occasion. They were not only entertained by showmanship and horseplay from start to finish, but they were treated to a wide assortment of palatable offerings as well.

Children and adults alike waited with bated breath for the showcase of delectable delights. Before the buffet could

even be opened, ravenous patrons eagerly awaited the act, lining up in droves for their fair share to savour. Gym’s Kitchen, who were pleased to be the official caterer for the afternoon, freshly prepared a scrumptious array of mouth-watering dishes. From grilled chicken breast, jerked chicken, jerked roasted fish, to escoveitched fish fillet, jerk pork fillet, curried goat and shrimp kebabs (for VIPs). The sides to choose from included rice and peas, pasta salad and tossed salad on the side.

The gusting wind from the great outdoors threatened to huff, puff and blow the food away but it was truly no match for tantalising taste buds. As for cocktails, the bar was kept busy with the orders of the day: wines, beers, rum punches, among other mixes of the alcoholic and non-alcoholic persuasion.
