In 1983, 6,500 persons were employed. In 1987, this figure has grown to 29,500. Over the same period, our garment exports grew from US$15 million (JS82.5 million) to US $185million (J$ 1,017,5 million) and we know the potential is here to improve on that, if we can find markets for our production.” 1994: The growing interest in alternative medicine has seen a proliferation of herbal preparations being offered to the public, but the pharmaceutical division in the Ministry of Health is warning that the indiscriminate use of some herbal medicine can cause adverse reactions.
