Banks fuelling volcanic rage

THE EDITOR, Sir:

IT WAS just a matter of time that this incident with the man with the gun at National Commercial Bank Half-Way Tree would happen.

Our bankers are oblivious to and uncaring of the frustration their customers go through even as they pile on usurious fees to make scandalous profits while the economy underperforms.

For my part, I have often had thoughts of having the top brass of the bank join the lines in cognito to see first-hand what their customers go through.

I have had some ugly thoughts myself while hopping from one foot to another and sometimes, have had to leave without being served and even have had an outburst on occasion before being served. Fortunately, I do not own or carry a gun.

LIP SERVICE

Then you talk of non-regulation. The bankers are giving lip service while laughing behind the authorities’ backs as they pile on more and more fees. It’s just a game for them to see who can earn the most, while to the customers, it is a matter of survival.

They say that if they cut fees, there will be fewer tellers. Well, I am here to tell you that they have been increasing fees while there have been fewer and fewer tellers.

We the customers are fed up to our necks! Just watch out — this incident will be repeated, hopefully without injuries. Remember the French Revolution when the people could not take anymore and attacked the very monarchy and burnt poor Marie Antoinette at the stake?
