New partners announced for Drink Real Milk Campaign

- Latara Boodie/Gleaner Writer

ON TUESDAY, the Drink Real Milk campaign, led by COO of CB Group Matthew Lyn, held their new partner launch in the heart of downtown Kingston at F & B Downtown Limited. After just two years of building awareness for locally produced cow’s milk, the campaign will get a fresh look and feel in the coming weeks as well as three new corporate partners, who have pledged to work together to grow the local industry. “From this initiative, the industry has seen an increase of 10 per cent in two years,” declared Lyn who spoke extensively on the work and accomplishments of the campaign and its team, and the benefits the dairy industry has experienced in the short space of time.

“Dairy farmers have come to me with real emotions to say how grateful they are for this campaign. More people are talking about milk. Many of them have considered giving up the profession, but with this Drink Real Milk campaign they have hope,” said Nutramix Brand Manager Tina Hamilton.

The three new partners include two producers of fresh milk on the island – Edward’s Dairy from Ramble, Hanover, and Island Dairies in Priory, St Ann – along with the country’s leading supplier of heavy duty agriculture equipment, Mapex, based in Mandeville,

Manchester. The three new partners will join the founding partners, Newport Mills (through its Nutramix feed brand), Seprod, Newport-Fetsan and the Jamaica Dairy Development Board. By working together, the founding partners have worked with nutritionist to audit farms, developed new milk products, focus on pasture development with the use of fertilisers, and made funding available for small dairy farmers to further their development.

The new partners have pledged their commitment to join the group and rebuild the dairy industry and have Jamaica drinking real local milk. “Many persons have seen our Drink Real Milk billboards and we have started the conversation. Those same billboards will be revamped with more information. For example ‘Drink Real Milk’ to build our economy, or Drink Real Milk’, it’s good for you,” said Hamilton.
