WAYNE LEWIS, communication director of Netball Jamaica (NJ), said former cohead coach of Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls, Sasher-Gaye Henry, is scheduled to meet with the organisation’s Human Resource Department this week in an effort to iron out their differences.

Lewis told The Gleaner yesterday that following this meeting, Henry will be sitting down with the NJ board sometime this week, to discuss the reasons behind her sudden resignation last week.

“There were never any discussions going on before her shock resignation, and so based on my understanding, there are no problems,” said Lewis.” She expressed some things in the content of her resignation letter, but I am not at liberty to discuss that. A statement will be made later this week, because there is a continuation from Saturday’s board meeting on Thursday, and by then, we will be in a position to issue a full statement as to what is going to happen going forward,” Lewis said.

According to our information reaching The Gleaner, Henry was disappointed with her remuneration package.

Lewis added that Saturday’s board meeting was attended by the Sunshine Girls vice-captain Vangelee Williams, who he said was also very surprised by Henry’s departure.

“She was very emotional when we talked about Sasher-Gaye’s resignation and she took it badly, and she said a lot of the players are taking it badly as well and they are really disappointed and hoping that something can be worked out where she will be back,” Lewis said.

Henry, along with Marvette Anderson, took over as co-coach of the Sunshine Girls following the resignation of Jermaine Allison-McCracken at the end of July last year.
