D’Angel to perform at Fashion Block

-

DANCEHALL RECORDING artiste D’Angel will perform at SAINT International’s Fashion Block on Saturday, May 19, on Knutsford Boulevard, New Kingston.

The female deejay, self-christened The First Lady of Dancehall, has a new track, I’m Blessed, that she says “celebrates the blessings in life I have been given and reflecting on them with positive appreciation.” D’Angel will shoot a music video – to be directed by Mykal Cushnie – for the song within the next two weeks. She did a collab,

No Worries, with Spice last year.

For her showing at FashionBlock, part of SAINT’s annual Style Week Jamaica calendar of events, D’Angel says, “I will make full use of the long runway and be bringing extra-special flavour.” She was the featured guest music performer at the model’s agency Male and Female Fashion Face of the Caribbean show at the Courtleigh Auditorium, New Kingston, last March.

D’Angel, whose name is Michelle Downer, first worked as a fashion model in the 1990s before transitioning to a music career. She said, “I have never retired from modelling, and recently strutted the catwalk for designer Neah Lis for the Jamaica Yellow Pages fashion show, and I also worked with other notable Jamaican designers like Pebbles King, Uzuri, and Keenea Linton.”

“I love the stage and the runway,” she added.
