Gospel album launch to fund home for needy resident.
ASIMPLE album launch by Ocho Rios gospel singer Prince Hall has blossomed into a fundraising event to build a home for an indigent community member.
The launch of Hall’s album, We Believe, is now set as a concert and scheduled for Father’s Day, June 17, at Turtle River Park, Ocho Rios.
Hall told Family & Religion how the fundraising concert came about.
“I was going to launch my album, but then I said, ‘I don’t just want an album launch: I want to help this gentleman’. He and I grew up in the same area and I saw him all these years struggling,” Hall explained.
Hall said he approached a few neighbours in the community and they liked the idea of helping the elderly man.
“So we started doing some work, digging out the foundation, and so on. Now, we’re trying our best to make sure that the entire Ocho Rios community will be a part of it by supporting this album launch and concert. We have a host of artistes and we’re asking the Ocho Rios community to come out and support this worthy cause.”
The event will feature Glacia Robinson and several other gospel artistes, including Noreta Williams, Carey Sayles, Anointed Voices, William Brothers, Outreach Gospel Band, Gospel Twins, Bobby Edwards, among others, along with comedians Handsome and ZaZan.
Hall, who has been singing for 25 years, is a Seventh-Day Adventist who embraces other denominations
“As it relates to my affiliation with other churches, I have always been involved with other churches whether it’s Baptist, Pentecost, Presbyterian, Methodist. I seek to always have some relationship because I don’t believe that as a Christian, my life should be one where I only associate with my church. We are all created by God and we should all pull together for one common goal. I go right across the board and sing in every church. I always have the concept that our lives must be like trees, bearing fruits for someone else.
“I believe that now is the time when there should be no segregation as a church, we believe in one God and that is why I entitled my album We Believe.
“We all believe in one God and we should pull together and seek to help our fellow human being on this Earth,” he ended.
