Heart Foundation’s high tea ‘RED-iates’ in style

- Krysta Anderson Gleaner Writer

IT WAS a sea of elegant red at the Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel recently as corporate companies, sponsors, and socialites made a fashionable entrance to celebrate The Heart Foundation of Jamaica’s annual event, Go Red for Women.

The global initiative, which was originally created by the American Heart Association in 2004 to raise health awareness of heart disease and stroke in women, has been acknowledged in Jamaica for over five years and has seen scores of local ladies rallying around the

worthy cause. Those in attendance walked the red carpet in fascinating outfits, received gift bags from Hunt’s and Jergens, made themselves feel at home in Ashley Furniture Homestore’s life-size living room suite, and enjoyed the spirits and nonalcoholic beverages from CPJ, all before entering the marvellously decorated Venetian room.

Indoors, the sophisticated mingled while sipping on their choice of coffee and a wide array of teas from Caribbean Dreams. They also helped themselves to the tasty buffet located on the outskirts of the dining tables.

Master of ceremonies Dahlia Harris entertained her attentive audience and had them all laughing in merriment. Miss Jamaica World 2015, Dr Sanneta Myrie, made her address as Go red Ambassador, focusing her speech on the importance of being hearty and encouraging ladies to not only look their best, but feel their best as well.

Guests were later serenaded by DiMario McDowell with a repertoire meant to uplift and empower women. With silent auction, prizes, surprises and palm readings by Minka – it’s safe to say the day to evening event exceeded expectations. Here are the highlights.
