Visual arts – my voice
VISUAL ARTS, most commonly called art, is a major part of my life. I have always realised that it was a very effective and healthy way for me to express my innermost thoughts and feelings I myself could not explain. When one asks for the meaning of the word ‘art’, one of the main definitions given is that it is an expression. I never truly understood how true this was. Through art, I realise I have a voice, a voice to be seen, heard, and understood. A voice for society to see and hear my views on matters and issues that affect me as youth in our country.
For me, art has always been a subject and hobby that I found calming and relaxing. I spend more of my time in the visual arts room than any other place on campus. I like that we have so many different art forms such as drawing, painting, mixed media, animation, graphic design, textile design, fiber arts, printmaking, leathercraft, ceramics, and sculpture.
ART IS A PASSION
All these different art forms allow my creativity and visions to come to life using any medium I desire. Art is also the only subject I am currently doing that allows me to be creative and original with my ideas.
Art for me is a passion. It’s something I want to create every day. Even though I am a well-rounded student as I do the sciences and the arts, I am going to pursue a career path in animation and illustration as this is what makes me happy.
Art is what I enjoy. It is a major part of me, thus making me the student artist I am today. I have been blessed to know from a very young age what career path I wanted to trod. I have also been blessed to have an amazing art teacher, Forbes-Braham, who taught me practically everything I know.
