Unkind to liken Vegas to exorcised demon

-

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I HAVE been a lifelong reader of the Jamaica Gleaner, but after reading the May 28, 2018 story demonising Mr Vegas (‘Mr Vegas ejected from religious gathering during debate with Pastor Gino Jennings’), I will no longer subscribe to this newspaper. Where in the Bible does it state that women who wear make-up, nail polish and hair extensions are prostitutes?

Last time I checked, prostitution is the act of getting paid for sexual intercourse. Where is the correlation between this and using beauty products?

The media are not supposed to be biased, yet the stance taken was to demonise Mr Vegas and compare him being thrown out of a church to an exorcism.

I am sure there are women who work at the company who wear make-up and extensions. Does that make them whores? I am sure there are men married to women who wear make-up to church. Are they married to whores?

I don’t know how this socalled pastor was invited to Jamaica in the first place if he holds such views on women. It’s clear he is judgemental and slightly unhinged to call women whores for using beauty products.

The media should always be unbiased. But if you choose to take a side, make sure it’s not a stance that disgraces your mothers, wives, girlfriends, grandmothers, sisters and aunts.
