Let love dissolve VegasJennings fight

-

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM not here to take any sides in the clash between Mr Vegas and Pastor Gino Jennings, but the last and most important commandment that Jesus left with us was to love one another.

We waste time as pastors and believers debating who is righteous and who is not. Our responsibility is to preach the gospel throughout the world.

Let us look at our heart. The love of God doesn’t forcefully eject people, the love of God does not argue about who is right.

Let’s get back to the foundation, which is the Word. Even if you are a prostitute, the love of God will speak to you, even in dressing. Who was the woman at the well, the woman who was to be stoned to death?

Jesus said he who is without sin should cast the first stone. Did not that story resonate with us? We are not here to cast stones but to forgive and love unconditionally. Love should be so evident on our altars that gangs, gunmen, rapists, prostitutes, and dancehall artistes will enter our churches and lay themselves at the altar without an invitation.

I encourage both Mr Vegas and Pastor Jennings to seek God and ask Him to create in them a clean heart.

It is love that is going to bring the lost to Christ, not debates and fired-up passions that enslave God’s people with man-made laws. There is only one law, and that is love. Preach that and that alone.
