Stood the test of time

VALKEN’S PHARMACY has the distinction of being the first pharmacy to grace the landscape of the seaside town of Hopewell, Hanover, the location of the historic Round Hill Hotel and Villas.

Over 25 years ago, its founders, Kenroy and Valrie Marston, took on the challenge to operate a pharmacy in the town when a colleague made the offer. In the genesis of Valken’s Pharmacy, there were challenges, but with perseverance, hard work and sound business practices, the company has stood the test of time and today has evolved and expanded its offerings to satisfy the demands of the ever, dynamic customers while still maintaining their motto, ‘Your Health Our Top Priority’.

According to Marston, its pharmacist and owner, “The most important person in the business is the customer, so focus is on the clients at all times. Valken’s Pharmacy is big on customer satisfaction, and the thrust is to keep and create customers.” She states, “We love the geriatric and pediatric population. They are the mainstay of our business, so on our Customer Appreciation Day, we target a specific population, and they are appreciated.” She related a client’s enduring love story with Valken’s Pharmacy that resulted in numerous new clients. “It was Customer Appreciation Day 2007, and the focus was on the geriatrics, so we were donating 100 walking sticks to those that needed. We were down to the last one, and it was given to a golden-ager, Maytebelle Fogoe, now deceased. She was very grateful and happy for the gesture, and that act of kindness became a catalyst for advertising the pharmacy. Everywhere she went, she related the story of how she acquired her walking stick, and so, clients came and remained with Valken’s Pharmacy because of that deed of charity that was done to her.

Valken’s Pharmacy takes pride in “being transparent in communicating to customers and business associates, leaving no room for doubts and ensuring that all is right”.

The pharmacy, along with its core focus of dispensing drugs, personal-care and baby products, stationery and convenience items, and excellent gift items.
