Harrison Preparatory School reaps GSAT victory

HARRISON PREPARATORY School in Montego Bay, St James, has good reason to celebrate its participation in the final sitting of the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) – Jessica Brown and Mario Allen.
Jessica and Mario, who currently serve as two of the school’s prefects, claimed the honour of being the school’s GSAT top girl and top boy, respectively, with Jessica getting a 92.3 per cent average and Mario scoring 90.8 per cent.
Jessica, who will attend the Montego Bay High School in September, expressed great joy at her high scores, which she said she got through much personal study time.
“I feel very happy about my grades, and I am very satisfied,” said 11-year-old Jessica, who wants to become a paediatrician. “In my exam preparation, I studied and did past papers at home, and I went to my bed early every night.”
Mario, who will attend the Herbert Morrison Technical High School, admitted to having felt slightly nervous during the exam period.
“I felt nervous doing the mathematics paper, but I felt like I was going to pass the science paper because I knew a lot of science,” said Mario, who aspires to become a police officer.
The two are not the school’s only examples of academic excellence as they were joined in the high-scoring group by head girl Olivia Cunningham and deputy head girl Khylie Rose, both of whom attained 90.6 per cent averages.
