ST ANN’S Bay Primary School’s head girl, Cassandra Davy, and head boy, Rashard Dennis, did extremely well in the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT), with near perfect averages in the five subject areas.
Cassandra, who will attend St Hilda’s Diocesan High School in Brown’s Town, St Ann, scored 100 per cent in science, 100 per cent in language arts, 100 per cent in communication task, 97 per cent in social studies and 96 per cent in mathematics for a 98.6 per cent average.
Rashard, meanwhile, will attend York Castle, also in Brown’s Town, after scores of 100 per cent in communication task, 99 per cent in language arts, 97 per cent in science, 97 per cent in social studies and 96 per cent in mathematics for an average of 97.8 per cent.
“When I heard the results, I was overwhelmed and excited,” said Cassandra. “Going into the exam, I was nervous but also quite confident because I knew I was well prepared.”
She has her sights set on becoming an obstetrician but is also thinking of owning her own bakery one day.
Rashard, who plays drums and wants to be an entrepreneur in the music business, said he was happy about the results.
“I was confident going into the exam so I’m not surprised I did well. I’m really excited right now,” Rashard said.
Class teacher Francine Frazier said the students, propelled by the class motto ‘Hard Work Brings True Joy’, were well prepared for the GSAT and deservedly did well.
“I am very happy, and I’m really proud of them. They worked hard. They took the pressure they were getting from everyone around them,” Frazier said.
