Holy Trinity look to rebuild
HE HAS lost most of his senior players from last year but head coach of Holy Trinity High, Devon Anderson, is still hopeful that the school can challenge for next season’s Manning Cup title.
Holy Trinity, semifinalists in last year’s competition, are drawn in Group G with 2017 FLOW Super Cup winners Wolmer’s Boys, Pembroke Hall High, José Marti High, Waterford High and Edith Dalton James High.
Anderson said the group is going be very competitive.
“This is a tough group and I am not going to take any of the teams lightly,”said Anderson.
“A few of the teams in my group are well recognised and we are one of the big teams and so everybody will be gunning to be us, but we just have to just carry our A-game when we go out there,” Anderson said.
He added that they have retained six players from last season’s squad, which finished on top of their group at the end of the preliminary round of the competition.
“It is going to be challenging knowing most of our players are new. So it is a form of rebuilding at the moment,” said Anderson.
“However, we have a track record and we want to remain that way because after the first round last year we were the overall leaders on points going into the round of 16 of the competition,”Anderson said.
Among the players, Holy Trinity have retained are Phillan Lawrence, Dante Green, Dillion McEnnis and Roy Elven.
