Rebranded Jamaica Fun in the Son launched.

THE CADRE of artistes for this year's rebranded Jamaica Fun in the Son were unveiled at the Partner’s Breakfast and Launch held at the Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel, Kingston, on Monday.

This year's line-up will include Marion Hall, who had guests at the launch shouting “hallelujah” at the close of a moving rendition of her original song, We Need You.

Other performers for the festival, set for Saturday, July 14, at National Heroes Park, include Carlene Davis, Kevin Downswell, Prodigal Son, Rondell Positive, and Papa San, while Donnie McClurkin will bring the word.

Previously known as The Best Dressed Chicken Fun in the Son, the one-day gospel festival has ‘graduated’ to national status – a move that has demonstrated the maturity of the event and its significance to the Jamaican landscape. The support of the Jamaica Tourist Board and the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport complements the significant backing of corporate Jamaica for the 2018 staging.

Major sponsors this year include long-time supporter, The Best Dressed Chicken, which will pioneer the food court area. In addition, the brand has committed to donating one case of chicken to vendors who will be selling chicken meals at the event.

Rochelle Cameron, assistant vice-president, human-resource development and public relations at the Jamaica Broilers Group, said the company was proud of the fact that Jamaica Fun in the Son 2018 has been designated a Jamaica 55-endorsed event by the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport.

“Fun in the Son is not just about sponsorship value – we are giving an offering for the growth and development of Jamaica, because the event is a voice of hope. We are honoured to have been called upon to again support this year because the work that is being done is important and so much bigger than any of us,” Cameron added.
