UNWG receives support from Stewart’s Automotive for Ja Pre-School for the Deaf

-

STEWART’S AUTOMOTIVE Group has gifted the United Nations Women’s Guild (UNWG) of Jamaica a contribution in support of their commitment to assist children with special needs.

The donation was made at the company’s head office on South Camp Road on Monday, when Diana Stewart, chairman of Stewart’s Automotive Group, presented a cheque to Una McPherson, president of the United Nations Women’s Guild, Jamaica. The donation will assist one student at the Jamaica PreSchool for the Deaf for the upcoming school year.

Over the years, UNWG has worked with the pre-school in Papine, where many children hail from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds and require sponsorship to meet basic expenses. Stewart’s Automotive Group has pledged this financial commitment to ensure that such expenses can be met. The funds will be allocated to provide the student beneficiary with meals as well as transportation to and from school.

As many of the students at the Danny Williams Pre-School Centre are not only hearing impaired but also suffer from multiple disabilities, the funds will also be used to cover the individual needs of the student, such as the provision of wheelchairs and eyeglasses.

The Stewart’s Automotive Group has demonstrated that regardless of physical ability and monetary resources, every child should be able to receive an education and have their basic needs met.

Through the effort of the Stewart’s Automotive Group and other partners, the UNWG will continue its tradition of supporting the children of the Jamaica Pre-School for the Deaf.
