Hospital remains dedicated
OVERA century ago, the Linstead Public Hospital began serving the healthcare needs of people in St. Catherine, St. Andrew, St. Ann, St. Mary and Clarendon. While much has changed in the prevention, detection, and treatment of disease, injury, and illness over the last 100 years, the Hospital remains dedicated to keeping the community healthy, now and in the future. Generations of families have benefited from the excellent service from the teams of caring and talented healthcare professionals at this institution.
In 1917, the facility was repurposed, it was specifically for persons who were affected by tuberculosis. Sixty-five years later, it became a full-service 52 bed general hospital. Improvements over the years such as the upgraded accident and emergency unit, the new pharmacy, and the introduction of additional services, such as physiotherapy in recent times have enhanced the level and quality of service which are provided.
The hospital’s enduring presence and appreciation from grateful patients speak to the dedication to the community it serves. At the beginning of the next century, I am confident that you will remain strong and committed to serving the residents of this region with distinction.
As you celebrate this significant milestone, and showcase your achievements in this newspaper supplement, I encourage the hospital board and staff to continue their outstanding work and service.
Congratulations and best wishes.
