Staff of the year 2016
IT IS with great honour that I represent the Linstead Public Hospital as Staff Member of the Year 2016. Having joined the team in July 2, 2013, I consider this a major achievement. I have experienced, gained and learnt a lot. It is indeed a warm feeling being part of an institution that is celebrating over 100 years of continuous service to people from all walks of life.
With the recent developments that have taken place at the Linstead Public Hospital, I foresee this hospital being a home away from home where one will not miss their comfort zone; I am optimistic that this institution will be the best Type C hospital across this beautiful island of Jamaica.
I have been an ambassador in introducing the services offered at the hospital to almost everyone I come in contact with. Some genuinely don’t have a clue of how we operate and will comment, “But mi neva know seh even though mi guh a private dackta mi cudda still duh the X-ray or blood test uppa the hospital,” and when they have done so some will come back to me and say “An yuh know wah to, Tina (my pet name), mi save back whole heapa money than if mi did guh a the private lab guh duh the test them,” This motivates me and gives me the zeal to continue doing my best.
I concur with Philippians 4:13 –
“I can do all things through Christ
who strengthens me”. However, I will not to leave out my fellow colleagues, who have worked so hard and tirelessly to make the hospital function efficiently and effectively on a daily basis. Hence, I will include them by saying we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
Once again, I take this opportunity to congratulate all the other hard-working and dedicated members of staff from the various departments. You all have done yourself and the institution proud . SHAFARA VIRGO Secretary Linstead Public Hospital
