Carrying out its services efficiently, effectively

-

ICONGRATULATE the staff of the Linstead Hospital for steering the facility to its 100th anniversary of continuous service. This is by no means an easy feat, especially as it relates to healthcare delivery, and signifies resilience and determination. This resilience and determination can be seen in this noble institution’s provision of health services to a population of approximately 200,000 people from five parishes.

The hospital has, over the years, continued its transformation to carry out its services efficiently and effectively. In 2012, laboratory services were introduced, which enabled the hospital to make better diagnoses before transferring its patients. Additionally, the hospital started offering diagnostic services with the purchase of an X-ray unit valued at $24 million.

The Accident and Emergency Department has been expanded, and this will allow for additional waiting and parking areas a nebulisation station examination bays, a triage area, and realignment of the ambulance bay. These are just some of the areas of achievements that the hospital has been able to accomplish.

GOOD JOB

I would like to commend the staff at the facility for providing healthcare delivery to patients despite the challenges throughout this period. Our human capital remains the most important asset, and I commend all health professionals who have worked tirelessly at this facility to save lives and give care to all who interface with the hospital. The demand for healthcare services is growing worldwide, and more highquality healthcare services are needed, especially in emerging markets with dynamic growth. The Ministry of Health remains committed to efficient healthcare delivery, which must focus on the development of a good health infrastructure. As we continue to find workable solutions to improve on our delivery of healthcare, I look forward to the commitment of the Linstead Hospital in helping the sector to achieve this.

I wish for you all the best in your endeavours.

DR CHRISTOPHER TUFTON Minister of Health
