Looking forward to a new day

- DR CLIVE THOMAS Consultant Surgeon Senior Medical Officer

AS WE celebrate over 100 years of service, I have had the pleasure and honour to be part of the transformation of this noble institution since August 8, 2017.

Providing healthcare services to the expanding populace of 200,000 people means that we must continue to improve and upgrade our infrastructure in order to carry out the widening functions of the hospital.

The new Accident and Emergency Department should assist in relieving the overcrowding and implement a more efficient and improved treatment of our patients. As we strive to reopen the operating theatre following the renovation and refurbishing, the employment of additional staff members is anticipated. The reopening of the labour ward in the future with the relevant staff and equipment is in the plan to revitalise our antenatal and delivery services.

The Ministry of Health and South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA), have pledged their support in upgrading the services. The staff is excited and is highly motivated to rekindle the commitment to re-establish Linstead Hospital as a fully operational Type C hospital. We know that this dream of Linstead Hospital being the ambulatory surgery destination of St Catherine can be achieved.

We look forward to a new day as we all put our hearts and hands in achieving some of the former glory of this institution.
