An institution of excellence
AS WE reflect on 100 years, we join Scott Belsky in saying “It’s not about ideas, it’s about making ideas happen.”
The achievements of this institution were made possible through the dedication of the teams guiding the service delivery over the decades. I am heartened to be a member of one such team that has effectively managed the resources of the institution to positively impact health in Jamaica at the secondary level. I believe it was the desire of our trailblazers in 1859 to deliver safe and effective health care to the St. Catherine populace and it is now my desire to deliver evidenced based care to the citizens served by this institution.
Our vision at the Linstead Public Hospital is to be an institution of excellence in the field of health care delivery. The realisation of this vision is only achievable through the establishment and adherence to global standards of health care delivery. In so doing, the various stakeholders along with the Ministry of Health have initiated the process of modernising the institution through the introduction of laboratory
services, re-establishing the X-ray services with a state of the art diagnostic unit and expansion and redevelopment of the Accident & Emergency department.
As we work towards the creation of a healthy nation, I foresee continued infrastructure development in terms of the out-patient pharmacy, the operating theatre, physiotherapy department, additional wards and staff housing.
It is only then that the Linstead Public Hospital will effectively meet the needs of its clients through the collaborative efforts of all its stakeholders.
I raise my pen with Henry Ford in saying, “Coming together is beginning, keeping together is progress, working together is success.”
