Meadowrest Memorial Gardens celebrates 23 years of stellar service
THE AERIAL view of Meadowrest Memorial Gardens, located in Whittaker’s Mountain, St Catherine, can only be described as strikingly beautiful. Well designed, and well cared for by its workers, drawn from the surrounding St Catherine communities, the ambience on entry from the ground, supports the promise of a place of rest like none other. Attention to detail has kept landscaping features sharp and facilities like planned parking areas, well-laid-out roadways leading to a centrally placed chapel, reflect the fact that there is deliberate intent to make beauty also responsive to the needs of the people the Gardens intends to serve.
These are but a few of the features that separates Meadowrest from the rest. There is more, much more!
In 23 years, Meadowrest Memorial Gardens has won the recognition of being among the top two cemeteries in Jamaica. Born out of the United Church in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, principally out of the efforts of members of Meadowbrook United Church, it struggled at the start to win the hearts and support of many, even among their own. But through steadfast effort and sterling leadership over the years, it persevered and has won an enviable reputation for excellent care and service – service that is responsive to the expressed as well as anticipated needs of its clients.
This is what separates Meadowrest from the rest.
For most of its 23 years, Meadowrest, under the leadership of a UCJCI-appointed board, was managed by gifted administrator and manager, LeRoi Lorde, who now retired, but still serves as a member of the Funeral Services Committee, which manages Meadowrest under the chairmanship of Stefan Wright.
