JAMAICA’S SPRINT star Veronica Campbell Brown has declared that her first book, entitled ‘Inside Out, Activate The Power Within You’, is geared at inspiring people who are facing challenging times in their lives.

Campbell-Brown, one of the most decorated sprinters in the history of track and field, told The Sunday Gleaner yesterday that the 144-page book has many biblical influences and is also heavily influenced by her own experiences growing up in a rural area.

“I enjoy inspirational writing because I believe that it is very important for us to inspire others, and I wrote ‘Inside Out, Activate The Power Within You’ to help people to get a deeper meaning in their lives and just to find fulfilment,” Campbell-Brown said during a book signing at Fontana Pharmacy in Barbican, St Andrew.

PROSPERITY AND PEACE

“(In the book) I talk about love, mental toughness, and purpose. We know that we all need love because love is the cure for everything in this world ... as long as we have love then we will have prosperity and peace and, of course, we have to be mentally tough to achieve what we want,” she said.

“Life is not always easy, and when life knocks us down, we have to be mentally tough to keep working at being successful,” added the 36-year-old Campbell-Brown.

Campbell-Brown, an eighttime Olympic and eleven-time World Championships medallist, also added that people should go out and purchase book because it also has many inspirational quotes.

“Inside Out also has a lot of biblical influences to inspire people, and also, my own experience is incorporated into the book,” she said. “It is about inspiring others to go after their dreams, to go after their goals, to be strong and to be tough and not be mentally weak, but to be mentally strong.”

The former Vere Technical High standout captured her first Olympic medal as a member of the sprint relay team that earned silver at the 2000 Games in Sydney, Australia.

Her first individual gold medal came in the 200m at the Athens Games in 2004. She also ran the anchor leg on the sprint relay team, which mined gold at the same Games.

Four years later, in Beijing, China, Campbell-Brown retained the 200m title for her third Olympic gold medal. She also won gold medals in the 100m (2007), 200m (2011), and 4x100m (2015) at the IAAF World Outdoor Championships.
