Harvey looks to end on a high
HARBOUR VIEW’S central defender Christopher Harvey is aiming to end his career with a big bang by leading his club to next season’s Red Stripe Premier League title.
The 35-year-old Harvey, who has been at the club for 18 years, told The Sunday Gleaner last Friday that this season will be his last.
“This is my last season and so I am looking forward to helping Harbour View to finish the season with the most points and then to win the trophy,” said Harvey, who won three Premier League titles with the Stars of the East during his career.
“I think that we can win the competition this season, but it is a pretty much a young team, but the players are willing to work hard,” he said.
Harvey, who has seven caps for the national team, noted that he is in great shape ahead of the season.
“I am training like a 20year-old,” said Harvey.
“I am very fit and my body is in tip-top shape, and I will be ready for action when the competition starts,” the former Camperdown, Clarendon College and Donald Quarrie High player said.
GUIDE YOUNG PLAYERS
Harvey noted that he has been helping to guide the young players in the Harbour View team.
“I let them know what this competition is all about and what to expect when the season starts,” said Harvey.
“I let them know that it is not hard, but it is not going to be easy. I also let everyone feel comfortable because everyone look up to me and any problems that they have they run to me and I do the best that I can to help them,” said the veteran player, who plans to go into coaching after he hangs up his boots.
