Lauderhill alumni football and netball tourney

The Jamaica High School Alumni Sporting Network (JHSASN) is this weekend celebratin­g 10 years of action in its high school alumni football and netball tournament. Activities begin today with the JHSASN welcome reception at Moments Restaurant and Lounge, and tomorrow and Monday (American Labour Day), the community can expect two full days of alumni football and netball.

“JN Bank has been a proud sponsor of the JHSASN tournament since its inception and continues to support this stellar organisati­on that highlights the games of netball and football. Over the years, the organisers, headed by visionary Lavern Deer, have developed the tournament to a standard which has uplifted the lives of young people who love and engage in the sports while bringing much needed discipline and focus to the teams,” Janice McIntosh, chief representa­tive officer, JN Bank, said.

Participat­ing schools in the football competitio­n include defending champions Bridgeport, Cornwall College, Wolmer’s Boys, St Elizabeth Technical, Excelsior, Tivoli, Ferncourt, Meadowbroo­k, Glenmuir, Calabar, Herbert Morrison, Kingston College, Clarendon College, Jamaica College, Dinthill Technical, and newcomers Muschett High. Defending champions Denbigh High, Wolmer’s Girls, Muschett, Ardenne, Excelsior, The Queen’s School and Kingsway High have entered the netball competitio­n. The event is a city of Lauderhill­sponsored event. It is hosted by the Florida-based city’s Vice Mayor Howard Berger at the Lauderhill Sports Complex.
