Continue your sterling work of representation and advocacy
IT IS my distinct pleasure to bring this congratulatory message on behalf of the Jamaica Government Pensioners’ Association on your observance of National Senior Citizens’ Week.
Indeed, it is quite instructive that a part of your theme is ‘Forging Our Future’, as it must be recognised that the future is, to a very large extent, determined not only by what takes place today, but also by what went on before. Senior citizens have made, and continue to make, significant contributions towards the development of this society and consequently, must not be forgotten in its future.
Recognition must be given to every effort that you have made over the past years on behalf of the seniors of this society, not only in defending their rights, but in assisting them to live the final years of their lives in dignity and pride.
We exhort you to continue your sterling work of representation and advocacy, as you consistently seek to provide quality service to those who gave invaluable service in the role of nation building and towards the economic development of this country.
We, the Jamaica Government Pensioners’ Association, consistent with our objectives to enhance the welfare of government pensioners, fully endorse the rest of your theme ‘Embracing the Participation, Contribution and Talents of Older Persons’, as we seek ways to ensure that the skills and talents of our members remain available for the benefit of the society at large.
On behalf of the association, I wish you a very successful celebration of another Senior Citizens’ Week and the activities and events connected therewith. JOHNATHAN BROWN, BHM President Jamaica Government Pensioners’ Association
