‘No hiccups!’

Bennett expects three points from Hydel despite tough Vauxhall challenge

HYDEL HIGH School technical director Corey Bennett says he expects a “tough” match against hosts Vauxhall in their Group F ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup match this afternoon at 3:30 p.m.

Hydel sits atop the group with 10 points from four matches and leads the group on goal difference ahead of defending champions Jamaica College. But Bennett anticipates a tricky contest when they face off against the thirdplaced team in the group this afternoon.

“We are expecting a very tough run from them, especially down at Vauxhall, but we are looking to come away with three points,” he said.

“We had a bad game against Campion and we still got the three points, so sometimes you can play some bad games and still get points. So, we are hoping we can get the result we want so we have no hiccups in the first round,” he continued.

Bennett is well aware that Vauxhall are not doing badly, but the teams will play their final game in the first phase of the first round today, and the Ferrybased school is keen on keeping its winning momentum going.

“After [today], we will have seen all the teams in the zone. We don’t expect them to be the same the second time around, but at least we will have an idea of how they play. We have quite a few crucial away (return) games. But for now, it’s just a matter of keeping the momentum and qualifying for the play-offs,”he said.

Hydel’s hope for victory will rest on top scorers Kemar Reid, Sakibi Farquharson, midfielder Javaughn Barclay, and goalkeeper Shaquan Davis.

‘We are expecting a very tough run from them, especially down at Vauxhall, but we are looking to come away with three points.’
