G2K condemns murder of pastor James Johnson
GENERATION 2000 (G2K), the young professional affiliate of the Jamaica Labour Party, has condemned the killing of Pastor James Johnson, the 29-year-old pastor who was shot seven times in the back while teaching a class at the Church of God of Prophecy at Old Harbour Road, St Catherine, last week.
It said that the brazen and brutal murder of Pastor Johnson, which happened in a place of worship, shows that thugs “are far more vicious than anything we have ever encountered before. Unlike times past, today’s criminals are so savage that they observe no boundaries whatsoever when they carry out their wicked acts. Extraordinary measures are required to reset these boundaries and defeat the criminal factions that terrorise the good people of Jamaica,” said G2K President Stephen Edwards.
SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS
In a release, G2K said that Pastor Johnson made significant contributions to social development through his work in his community and his church. He earned the recognition and respect of many of the Jamaica’s leaders through his zeal for nation building and his enthusiasm for discourse on current affairs, it added.
“It is common knowledge that Jamaica is short of young men who work hard for a good education, are active in the church, and sacrifice their time and personal resources for the advancement of other young persons. Young Pastor James Johnson, having displayed all these qualities, was simply an extraordinary human being. His death is a terrible loss to the nation,” said Alexis Peart, G2K vicepresident.
G2K is asking anyone with information about the murder to share it with the security forces.
