-

THE ST GEORGE’S College Old Boys Association will stage the 20th renewal of its alumni golf tournament tomorrow at the Caymanas Golf & Country Club with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.

This very popular tournament on the golfing calendar provides an opportunity for ‘old boys’ and ‘old girls’ to enjoy a day of camaraderie and spirited competition. The tournament is a challenge event wherein St George’s College Old Boys challenge alumni teams from other schools to see who has the best golfers. Past winners include Campion College, Calabar High, Glenmuir High, Munro College, Clarendon College, Manchester High, Jamaica College as well as St George’s. In fact, golfers not only win individual prizes, but the school of the overall winners receives an award for the their student feeding programme on behalf of the winning team of past students. Teams from Kingston College, DeCarteret College, Holmwood Technical, Immaculate, and Hillel High are expected to compete for this year’s top honours.

Last year, Campion College past students Dr Nigel Knight and Gordon Munn combined to score the highest points in the alumni category. President of the St George’s College Old Boys Association, Ian Telfer, presented a cash award of $50,000 to Brian PhillipotsBrown, director of sports at Campion College, on behalf of the alumni champions. The presentation was made at the St George’s College homecoming weekend launch on September 16 at the Spanish Court Hotel.
