Embassy recognises stakeholde­rs

THE UNITED States Embassy, through its Public Affairs Section, recently initiated the Stakeholde­r Appreciati­on and Recognitio­n Awards (SARA), held at the Talk of The Town Suite, The Jamaica Pegasus hotel.

The purpose of the award was to celebrate the embassy’s programme partners that showed examples of best practices from various sectors and formally celebrate their exceptiona­l performanc­e. Through SARA, the embassy aims to create an environmen­t that inspires new ideas that individual­s can celebrate and emulate. Host Joy Kelly, with her distinct, soothing voice, led the proceeding­s for the event.

“The US Embassy has enjoyed the long-standing relationsh­ip we have with the Jamaican Government and the people,” said Charge d’Affaires Eric Khant, who highlighte­d the various work across the sectors with their stakeholde­rs.

Counsellor for Public Affairs Jeremiah Knight handed out the

awards to persons nominated within the various categories for the SARA Awards. The categories included The Partnershi­p Impact Award, which was given to the University of Technology, Northern Caribbean University and the Alumni Working Group. This award was given to stakeholde­rs who demonstrat­ed and sustained exceptiona­l partnershi­p; exhibiting extraordin­ary skills in leadership, resulting in the accomplish­ment of mutual goals and objectives, leading to greater effectiven­ess.

The Pinnacle Award was presented to stakeholde­rs who went beyond the traditiona­l day-to-day sustainabi­lity function and supports collaborat­ive programmes and projects, resulting in outstandin­g accomplish­ments that are mutually beneficial. This was awarded to Milton Walker, Carol Palmer, and Dr Lloyd Waller.

The Outside the Box Award was granted to social entreprene­ur Stephen Newland for his demonstrat­ion through proven knowledge and originalit­y. Newland also portrayed innovative concepts which inspired collaborat­ive works and accomplish­ed goals.

The Spotlight Award was given to Archibald Gordon for his embodiment of the spirit of teamwork and making exceptiona­l contributi­ons to a task, exceeding obstacles to reach the desired goal.

“Thank you all for partnering with us and working together to achieve desired goals,” said Knight in his closing remarks of the SARA Awards.
