BISHOP KAREN REID-HYMAN ANOINTED TO SERVE
APOSTLE BISHOP Dr Karen Reid-Hyman has been working under the anointing of the Holy Spirit since she was called to serve the Most High God.
Describing her Christian journey as one that has been ordained by God, this woman of God, as she is often referred to by her congregation, said she has seen a 40 per cent increase in attendance at her church since the start of this year. The church, Divine Signs and Wonders Deliverance Ministry, is located along Port Henderson Drive in Portmore, St Catherine.
“We have baptised 37 and reclaimed 16 since the start of the year. The anointing that is placed on me has allowed me to win souls for the kingdom,” the apostle bishop, who holds a doctorate in theology, told
Family & Religion.
She, however, was quick to point out that she does not see the Church’s responsibility as only to win souls through preaching.
“Whereas the Church’s primary function is to preach the gospel to win souls, there must be a humanitarian aspect to ministry. Jesus showed us that example at the end of his sermon on the mount,” she said.
Reid-Hyman added: “At Divine Signs and Wonders Deliverance Ministry, we have outreach crusades where we go into communities every third Friday and meet the people. We have a feeding programme where every child receives a meal on Sundays. We do charitable deeds such as giving away food packages and items of clothing four times per year, and we also teach CXC classes, where any member of the community can be involved.”
She admitted that as a woman apostle whose primary responsibility is to ordain evangelists, pastors and teachers as directed by the apostle Paul in Ephesians 4:11, she has come up against resistance from her male counterparts who feel that women should not be apostles.
“God has called me to do what I do for him, and I will not allow my male counterparts who feel different to intimidate me. I spend my time travelling abroad as part of my outreach ministry. I am invited to speak at women conferences from time to time, so I spend no time listening to their opinion,” Reid-Hyman stated.
According to her, her religious philosophy is centred on God the Father as the head of the Trinity, the Son Jesus, and the Holy Ghost.
