COACH OF Glenmuir High, Warren Simpson, says his school has struggled in the daCosta Cup but the team has good talent and can challenge for the Ben Francis Cup.

Former champions Glenmuir will face Port Antonio High today in the quarter-finals of the ISSA/WATA Ben Francis KO Cup at Carder Park at 2:30 p.m.

“We did not get positive results in the daCosta Cup, but now the players are gelling and showing a lot more in the transition from defence and midfield into attack,” said Simpson.

In another game to be played at Juici Park, 2016 champions Lennon High will take on Old Harbour High and Byjeon Thomas, coach of Lennon, said they are looking forward to today’s start of a competition that could turn an average season into something great.

“We are definitely looking to cap off this season by doing our best in the Ben Francis. Hopefully, that will result in victory and us lifting the trophy at the end ... I think that we have the quality, we just lack the experience this year,” said Thomas who does not believe there is any pressure on them to deliver despite being the last of the eight quarter-finalists to have won the Cup.

more pressure than the other teams to deliver because it’s eight teams with similar capabilities .... they (school community) are looking forward to it but I’m sure the other schools are also looking to lift the trophy as well. Everyone will be up for the games and all eight teams are looking to finish their season with a title,” he added.
