Brathwaite in desperate search for positives
SKIPPER CARLOS Brathwaite tried desperately yesterday to search for the positives after West Indies crashed to a 71-run defeat to India in the second Twenty20 International, to record their fourth straight series defeat inside the last 12 months.
India piled up a challenging 195 for two off their 20 overs behind captain Rohit Sharma’s superb unbeaten 111 and West Indies bungled their run chase to end on 124 for nine at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee International Cricket Stadium.
“It was a Jekyll and Hyde performance. Obviously last game we bowled and fielded very, very well.
SUBPAR FIELDING
Today I don’t think we fielded as well as we wanted to, even I let the team down with the ball,” said Brathwaite who conceded 56 runs from his four overs.
“Chasing 195 was always going to be an uphill task but there were a few positives - the way Fabian Allen bowled in the middle with two batsmen in Rohit and Shikhar (Dhawan) going - and the way he kept them under wraps until he finally Shikhar out.
“On a tour like this it’s hard to just look at the negatives; sometimes you just need to take the small positives and go away with them. Hopefully we can put them together in the final game and come out with a win.”
West Indies play the final T20 International of the series on Sunday in Chennai.
