Give more support to Dalton

THE EDITOR, Sir:

LIKE MANY Jamaicans at home and abroad, I’ve been literally blown away at Dalton Harris’ incredible performances on the UK version of X Factor talent show, as he advances in the top 10.

However, I am surprised he has not been getting much coverage in your paper. Week after week, Dalton’s performances earn standing ovations from all four judges with his superb talent and an incredible vocal range.

From the beginning he has remained true to his Jamaican roots and humble background. He promotes Jamaica at every chance he gets and helps to break down negative stereotypes.

Harris’ most recent performances such as Radiohead’s Creep, Whitney Houston’s I Have Nothing, and Barry McGuire’s California Dreamin (my fave so far) have all made the iTunes Top 100 chart, and at least one has reached top 30.

The 24-year-old former Rising Stars winner is, to date, the highest charting UK X Factor contestant.

Even his mentor, One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson is impressed. Bookies in Britain have now placed the odds in his favour to win it all.

The reaction from the audience has been overwhelming. Support will boost his confidence.

He is effortlessly promoting Brand Jamaica on this journey and deserves all the support he can get! We wish him nothing but success!
