THE BODY of a woman, which was found on November 25 in a river at the Errol Flynn marina in Port Antonio, Portland, with the throat slashed, has been identified.

She is 29-year-old Samantha Napier of Hendon district in St James.

Detective Inspector in charge of crime in the Portland division Linton Bailey said that the body was positively identified on Wednesday by the mother of the deceased.

According to Bailey, the police was told that Napier worked as a bartender and also as a nail technician.

On Sunday, two police officers, who were conducting beat duty at the marina round about 2:45 a.m., stumbled upon several pools of blood, which were traced to a wooden bridge.

However, poor visibility, which was compounded by the absence of an electrical lamp, prevented the lawmen from conducting a proper search.

But during daylight, the woman’s body was found in mangroves by a team from the marine police division.

Close observation revealed that her throat had been cut, with the neck almost severed. The body also had a cut to the cheek and one hand.

It is the second murder to have taken place at the marina facility following the daylight killing of Jessica King on August 14, 2013, at the hands of her then boyfriend, Detective Corporal Lincoln McCoy. McCoy is currently serving a life sentence.
