Alacran Foundation to assist 1,500 J’cans this Christmas
THE ALACRAN Foundation and its founder Alessandra Lo Savio have set out to assist close to 1,500 children, senior citizens and homeless individuals across Kingston, Portland, Trelawny, St James and Hanover between December 19 and 22, ahead of the official launch of the foundation in 2019.
According to Lo Savio “We will be distributing care packages to the homeless, gifts to children and meals to senior citizens through a series of Christmas treats.”
The treats started on Wednesday at the Trench Town Multi-Purpose Complex in St Andrew and continued yesterday at the Fairy Hill Community Centre in Fairy Hill, Portland.
Today, the foundation will be at the Elleston Wakeland Community Centre in Falmouth, Trelawny, before moving to the Hopewell Sports and Community Centre in Hopewell, Hanover, tomorrow.
A special treat at the City Spirit on Orange Street in Montego Bay, St James, is also scheduled to take place tomorrow.
The Alacran Foundation, whose goal is to provide learning via the arts, music and sports for future generations, has taken on the mission of building music schools in developing countries across the world for children and young adults.
To date, the Alacran Foundation has a presence in Miami, Florida; London, England; and St James, Jamaica, based on the current footprint of parent company Alacran Group.
The Alacran Group, through these three sites, has already joined forces with local community groups and organisations to better penetrate marginalised and impoverished communities through the foundation.
