TRocheda Bartley/Gleaner Writer HE REWARDING Chinese-Jamaican Human Resource Development Co-operation Programme was the centre of attention for guests who gathered in a section of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, transforming the mood into one of jubilance, on Tuesday.

Marking the 10th staging of an event geared towards celebrating the knowledge and skillbuilding project, the reception left attendees optimistic, eagerly anticipating the next exciting annual ‘trip to China’.

Fan Jianghong, economic and commercial counselor at the embassy, chaired the evening’s affair, spreading a cheerful spirit and glee to all the specially invited guests. Following a play-by-play depiction of the advantages of the initiative, Tian Qui, Chinese ambassador, zoomed in on the benefits of the policy and ignited the Yuletide cheer that silently waited to be aroused within invitees, ultimately setting the tone for the rest of the proceedings.

The ambience warmed up even more when Shorna-Kay Richards, director of the Bilateral Relations Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, made uplifting remarks, hinting that beneficiaries should not only nurture the knowledge they have gained from their visit to

the oriental land but should also use it to Jamaica’s advantage where achieving Vision 2030 is concerned.

Dr Gary Welsh, acting deputy commissioner of police, encouraged all to extend love and unite in the cause of the ‘one-love policy,’ especially during the festive season.

The night ended on a high note with a number of persons dropping a few moves on the dance floor while an exhilarating karaoke episode kept guests well entertained.

The venture is a crucial element of the Chinese government’s initiatives to aid the growth and evolution of foreign countries.
