‘Supa Willy’ and cops bring Christmas cheer to the elderly
IT WAS early Christmas for scores of senior citizens of Frazer’s Content and neighbouring communities in St Catherine last week as they were presented with gifts packages by officials of ‘Supa Willy Promotions’ and the police in the area.
The group took the gift packages through zinc fences and narrow pathways to the elderly, some of whom were shut-ins.
“When I saw the police coming inside my yard my heart leap, but was pleasantly surprised they were the bearers of Christmas gifts. I am thankful for this act of kindness,” said Delceta Forrester, one of the residents to benefit from the kindness of the group.
“Excuse me, remember Miss Cinderella O’Connor, round di corner, as she is really in need,” said Kadian Brown after she was presented with her gift basket.
‘PROUD TO SUPPORT’
Constable Kester Fennel from the Community Safety Branch of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) enjoyed the day as the team was showered with words of thanks from those they presented with gifts.
“We are very proud to support this venture. The smiles and appreciation of the recipients brought joy and satisfaction to the team,” Fennel told The Sunday Gleaner.
The venture was spearheaded by Hornet Williams of Supa Willy Promotions, who lives in the area.
“I am pleased to be able to assist these residents who are all elderly. I have collaborated with the police in St Catherine to bring good cheer, and this is Christmas for me,” said Williams who recently retired from the JCF.
He noted that the initiative to bring Christmas cheer to the elderly started in 2012 and continues to grow. According to Williams, he plans to continue the annual treat as long as he is able to make a difference.
