Kudos to UHWI medical staff
THE EDITOR, Sir:
I KNOW there is a crime outbreak in our country, and successive governments have grappled with this beast. The Church is confronting it through prayers, and the average ordinary citizens, in their own way, are trying.
Notwithstanding, we have, for a small island, some of the best people in this world, and if you disbelieve this, just ask foreigners.
Today, I am going to commend our health sector, an extraordinary sector. The University Hospital doctors and nurses are some of the most efficient and talented of their group. Of course, it’s hard to compete with KPH, which we all know boasts the crème de la crème. But Ward 4 nurses at The UWHI cannot go unmentioned because not only are they clinical, they are humane. The PCAs, too, come to notice and must never be left out. There is a PCA – Colleen Geddes – whose whole manner reflects warmth and professionalism. ICUs [intensive care units] anywhere in the world spell doom, except at the University Hospital. Those exceptional doctors and nurses must be specially trained! They are nothing but excellent, and it is my opinion that the ICUs at The University Hospital of the West Indies must be speedily recognised and branded before somebody else invests or buys into it and we lose another piece of our excellence.
Let us highlight the excellence in our people and country. We took a lot of goodness for granted and overlooked hard work and dedication and are now rewarded with a crime wave. Commending good should never be hard.
