National Leadership Prayer Breakfast for January 17
THE NATIONAL Leadership Prayer Breakfast will be held on Thursday, January 17, this year, under the theme ‘I pledge’.
The organisers of the event, which will be held at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston, say the theme was inspired by Dr John C. Keane’s book I Promise, in which he took an in-depth look at Jamaica’s national pledge and was passionate about the role it could play in nation building.
According to the organising committee, the national pledge can be used as a catalyst for renewal.
“The National Leadership Prayer Breakfast’s focus this year is, therefore, to challenge our national leadership in government, judiciary, business and Church, as well as ordinary citizens to make a pledge – a pledge for integrity, justice, unity, peace, productivity, and goodwill to all, ‘So that Jamaica may, under God, increase in beauty, fellowship and prosperity, and play her part in advancing the welfare of the whole human race’,” the committee stated.
WEEK OF PRAYER
The breakfast will be preceded by a week of prayer from January 10 to 16, in which leaders in various sectors of the society will be prayed for on select days.
With an increased number of domestic violence cases leading to the deaths of women and children over the last year, the committee has decided to give special focus to the family.
The committee is asking churches across Jamaica to set aside a time in their main worship services on Saturday, January 12 and Sunday, January 13 to pray for the family.
During the week, focus will be placed on leaders in various areas, including religion, the private sector, public sector, the family, agriculture, education, students and youth, and politics.
The National Leadership Prayer Week service will be held on Sunday, January 13 at 10:15 a.m. at the Church of the Open Bible, 12 Washington Boulevard, Kingston 20. Guest speaker will be Dr Barry Davidson.
