Sun, rum and fun at Xodus’ Debut Breakfast Party

SOCA LOVERS debuted their waistlines and party vibe at the curtain-raiser event for carnival band Xodus last Saturday morning. The botanical grounds of the Sunken Gardens in St Andrew were transformed into a fêters’ soirée for the Debut Breakfast Party.

The sun gods provided the heat, and the well-stocked bars supplied the cooling libations.

Options were plentiful, and the courteous staff were ever-present to satisfy partier’s thirst. Speaking of cooling down, the special TruJuice/Smirnoff Aurora cocktail was a crisp refresher for patrons.

For those who wanted a chill vibe of sorts, the large, airconditioned Heineken umbrellas provided the right spots to beat Apollo’s rays.

The added touch of buckets of Heineken on ice and nearby 876water were welcomed.

The green oasis lounge provided by Epican Jamaica, the popular medical cannabis outfit, allowed patrons to rest their dancing feet.

The party’s heat also radiated from the turntables as DJs Puffy, Nicco, J Lava, Tyler and Lantern MD conducted a symphony of musical mastery.

Bevies of brightly attired beauties didn’t miss a fashion beat, and the up-top bosses also kept that trend.

Between the music and the dancing, there was also food, a spread that was nothing but pleasing to the palates.

“At Xodus, we always try to be innovative. We keep things fresh, and we decided that this year, Xodus wanted to have a breakfast party. Debut was the most obvious choice out of all our fêtes to deliver a breakfast, party experience, and

we are happy for the support,” said Kamal Bankay, a director of the carnival band, when asked about the switch from a night event to a day party.

Turning the attention to Road March day in April, Bankay said masqueraders can expect high

energy and a premium experience.

“We’re going to literally take over the streets of Kingston and deliver the most amazing road experience that has ever been delivered in Jamaica. Additionally, we are going to have an Xodus J’Ouvert right here in Kingston and Xodus Tailgate for the first time in carnival week.”

From the look of things, patrons obviously enjoyed the event immensely, and this debut surely needs an encore.
