The big hitters in the cricket world

-

THE EDITOR, Sir:

WHEN WE talk about cricket, the game of glorious uncertainties, there were/are some dangerous and hard-hitting West Indian batsmen (including some of the bowlers, too), who, by their dominance and hard-hitting power strokes, have created and are producing some exciting fireworks in this well-loved and highly rated game.

Some of these power hitters, who could blast the ball around the grounds by hitting long and mighty sixes, were (in the past) Viv Richards, Clive Lloyd, Gordon Greenidge, Collis King, Phil Simmons, Michael Holding, Andy Roberts, Joel Garner, Curtly Ambrose, Courtney Walsh, and the list goes on.

CURRENT TALENTS

Currently: Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Smith, Evin Lewis, Shimron Hetymer, Andre Russell, Rovman Powell, Nicholas Pooran, Fabian Allen, and the list continues.

Players like those – when they were/are in dazzling form – could send up your blood-pressure with happiness and joy. I will end with this. Whenever the Reggae Boyz are playing their football matches, the matches are always shown live and direct on national television and delayed coverage is shown, too.

But the poor Reggae Girlz – their matches are kept behind the iron curtains. They are not being televised direct or indirect.

Why? Aren’t their games important, too? That’s not nice at all! No! No! Not right! DONALD J. MCKOY donaldmckoy876@gmail.com
