Much to be proud of
CELEBRATIONS ARE in order for the deCarteret College as we have reached the remarkable milestone of 100 years and have much to be proud of. The school began as ‘deCarteret Preparatory School’ with boarding facilities, which has now grown and transformed into a prestigious college with approximately 1,200 students.
As chairman of the board, and on behalf of the board members, I take this opportunity to congratulate the school; its principals over the years; staff – academic, administrative, ancillary; current students and past students on all their various successes, both individually and collectively.
In his message in the 75th
Souvenir Magazine, the then chairman, the late Right Rev William Murray, Bishop of Mandeville, wrote, “deCarteret College is intended to produce the kind of graduates who are committed to the discovery of truth, and especially to understanding the meaning and purpose of life. This is particularly important in a day and generation where materialism has come to dominate the thinking of so many of our young people, where we have forgotten the basic truth that we are essentially spiritual beings and are intended to live life in a special relationship with God and with our fellow human beings.” The present situation can be said to be a fulfillment of that focus.
May we continue to be the school that lives up to its motto:
Aedificamus (We are Building). Congratulations again to the deCarteret College.
