Karl Subban, renowned leadership speaker and educator, for UDOP banquet

-

A SILVER Anniversary Banquet on Saturday, April 27 at the Jewel Resort, Runaway Bay, St Ann will be the climax of the 25th Annual International Diabetes Conference. One of the highlights of the event will be hearing the guest speaker, Karl Subban, a highly sought-after leadership speaker and educator out of Canada. Of Jamaican origin, Subban will share how he lives a happy, productive life while living with diabetes.

Karl Subban is a former school principal in one of Toronto’s toughest neighbourhoods, and the father of five children, including three National Hockey League (NHL) players. He has dedicated his life to helping others reach their potential; to be better at their careers, and as people. In his people-friendly talks and in his brand new memoir, How We

Did It, he explores teamwork and leadership and offers a fresh outlook on what it means to succeed.

In his 30 years of coaching, teaching, parenting and leading, Karl Subban has become a master at inspiring people. One of his favourite maxims is, ‘Your greatest gift is your potential and the greatest gift to the world is the development of that potential’.

Although Subban never played hockey in his lifetime, he has raised three NHL players, including the now Nashville Predators defenceman, P.K. Subban, one of the leagues brightest stars and an Olympic gold medal winner. His new memoir, How We Did It: The

Subban Plan for success in

Hockey School and Life, has become an immediate bestseller.

It is a personal story of a unique journey that begins in his original home Jamaica and explores his achievements as father and educator in Canada. It has been described as ‘a proven approach to resilience, perseverance and goal-setting and how to bring the best out of everyone’.

Karl and his wife Maria have raised five accomplished children. Their two oldest daughters are teachers, one a record-setting university basket ball star and the other an acclaimed visual artist. Their three sons: PK, Malcolm and Jordan have been drafted and signed by NHL teams.

In 2018, Subban was recognised as Canadian Men’s Health Foundation (CMHF) Champion for taking a stand on men’s health and supporting CMHF in their mission to inspire men to make small changes and live healthier lives.
