FLOW unveils unlimited call packages

TELECOMMUNICATIONS COMPANY FLOW has sought to simplify its packages, flattening its offerings with unlimited calls for both its prepaid and postpaid plans as a key lynchpin.

FLOW said it was responding to the demands of customers after it conducted a study to better understand user needs.

“Jamaican consumers want to call anyone on any local network, they want unlimited social media and text messaging, they want simple plans with no surprises,” said country manager of FLOW, Stephen Price.

Postpaid customers on the FLOW network will now choose from package options inclusive of unlimited social media as well as data allocations and free incoming calls while roaming to specific destinations.

“These new FLOW plans remove network restrictions and now reflect the uncomplicated value that our customers have been seeking for some time,” Price added.

FLOW is second to market leader Digicel in cell phone take-up in Jamaica and has haemorrhaged ground and money in the competitive market.

The telecoms did not address queries on how the offers would impact revenue, whether the data component would offset lost earnings from unlimited calls. However, the decision may have been driven by climbing market demand for data as access to the Internet becomes more important for Jamaicans.

“We are happy to deliver these plans to the market, especially given the importance of always being connected in today’s digitally driven world. As we did for mobile voice a few years ago, we are making data accessible to the average consumer with all the added benefits that they have been asking for,” Dwight Williams, commercial director, mobile, told
